How Much Does It Cost?

  • $15 consignor fee per sale (or)

You can put anything and everything that has to do with raising a child in the sale: clothing up to teen (Note: items should be season specific items, ie: spring/summer items sold in the same season and fall/winter items sold in the same season), shoes, toys, books, baby equipment, baby/kid room related furniture, games...and maternity clothes!

Just Between Friends Grand Rapids supports local charities, so if you choose to donate your unsold items they go to good use in our local community immediately to help families in need!

  •    Confirm each item you are bringing is stain/tear free, all games have all parts, all items needing a battery turn on and are in working order. Please note, on your consignor waiver, you will be notified (and also below) that you are given a grace of 5 items that can be pulled for not meeting inspection. Consignor Pick Up (3/21)

Sunday - 11am - 2pm - All consignors picking up unsold items must have a pick up time. The link will be active in early 2021. 

After the sale, for those who are picking up your unsold items, your items will be sorted for you and ready for pick up. Please arrive for pick up within your scheduled time frame. Early entrance is not permitted due to the tight time constraints of getting all items in the appropriate areas for our consignors. A limited number of carts and racks will be available to assist you.

Bags & Baby Carriers

Diaper bags, infant carriers, backpacks, and purses are great consignment items. Please inspect all items carefully to make sure items have not been recalled, stained, damaged or are missing pieces. 

Package:  Please zip-tie items together if needed. We have both a wall for display as well as gridwalls where items will be hung and zip tied. If you have a high-priced item (over $20), please see a volunteer at Drop Off for assistance.

Price:  Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag:  Hole-punch JBF tag and attach it to item with ribbon or string. If item contains multiple pieces, be sure all pieces are included and list number of items on JBF tag description, see large item tagging video.

Bedding, Blankets & Textiles

Bedding sizes accepted are bassinet/crib/toddler/pack-n-play ONLY and limited to 5 items per consignor.  Twin, Full, Queen and King size bedding and mattresses are NOT accepted.  Crib bumpers are also not accepted as well as handmade items like blankets.   Please be selective when selling infant bedding, blankets, receiving blankets, burp cloths, and towels. New and barely used items sell best. Check carefully for stains; shoppers get very disappointed if they find a stain in a bundled blanket once they get home.

Package:  Put bassinet/crib/toddler/pack-n-play sets together in original packaging or in giant clear plastic bags. Arrange bedding sets inside bag so that shoppers can see all of the items as well as the design/pattern. Secure the bag so that items do not get separated. Bundle blankets, cloths, and towels with ribbon or string like a package (be sure multiple pieces cannot be separated). When available, printing off a picture of it displayed from the intranet is helpful.

Price:  Price to sell! Shoppers are less likely to purchase these items used, so prices have to be low. Try to price 75% - 90% off retail.

Tag:  If bedding is in a plastic bag, attach tag securely with packaging tape to the inside of the bag and tape the bag shut (infant bedding set prices vary widely and securing tags inside bags prevents tag switching). If bedding/blankets are bundled with string, attach tag directly to blanket and tuck it under the ribbon/string so that it does not easily get pulled off when shifting around during the sale, see link to tagging video.

Books, Games, DVDs, Arts & Crafts

Books, book sets, board games, puzzles, video games, video game systems, scrapbook, arts & crafts sets are great items for resale.  Please focus on bringing kid, parenting, homeschooling, pregnancy and child rearing books.  Games and puzzles must have all pieces.  Check items to ensure they are in great condition.  For books, please NO outdated curriculum (5yrs from copyright), magazines, cookbooks and thesaurus or dictionaries (kids picture type dictionaries and thesauruses accepted).

Package:  Use clear, self-seal bags or clear cling wrap (saran wrap) to hold multiple items together; Tie sets of books together with ribbon/string, or place in zip-top bags. Be sure that parts/games to video game systems (such as Vtech) cannot be separated or switched out at the sale.  If you have a high-priced item (over $20), please see a volunteer at Drop Off for assistance.

Price:  Prices can range from $.50 to $50 in this category, depending on the item. Price to sell especially for books & DVDs as there are always a lot to choose from at the sale. If you have a high-priced item, please see a team member during Drop Off.

Tag:  When tagging books, please attach your tag to the book with tape similar to painters tape that can be removed without damaging the item. Tape tag to the outside cover of glossy books, but if needed based on the delicate nature of the cover, on the inside cover if will easily tear when removing the tag. Please do not use masking, packing or double sided tape. You can also hole-punch JBF tag and tie to sets or put the book(s) in a clear bag and tape tag to the bag, see tagging video.


We sell children's clothing, infant through juniors, as well as maternity!  For Juniors, we limit to 10 best boys items and 10 best girls items - season appropiate. For maternity, bring your 10 best items and for maternity we accept all seasons.  Just be picky! Look at your clothing items as though you were going to purchase them.  No stained, frayed clothing or clothing with holes in it.  Please freshly launder your clothing, button all buttons and snap all snaps.  The newer items look, the better they sell!  Season specific clothing only (except for maternity) is accepted depending on which season the sale is in.

Be picky.  Look at your clothing items as if you were going to purchase them. No stained or damaged items will be accepted. In fact, you will be given a grace of 5 items that get pulled for inspection. After 5 items, you will be charged $0.50 per item that is pulled. Quality is our biggest differentiator and you are the first line of defense! Please note that any items that look like "mom's" clothes will also be rejected at inspection - only  juniors brands are accepted in the juniors section. Please freshly clean your clothing items. Replace missing buttons, sew loose hems and seams, and clip loose threads. Please button all buttons, snap all snaps, zip all zippers before you arrive at drop off. This will ensure that there are no defects in the clothing. The newer the item looks (and the better it smells), the better it will sell.

Package & Hang:  Hangers - Please hang clothes so the hanger hook points to the left (like a question mark).   All clothing must be hung before arriving at drop off.

Hang sizes - We recommend using wire hangers.  All clothing needs to be hung and the hangers will not be returned. You might find size 0-6 clothing hangs better on smaller-size wire hangers and sizes 7-20 and maternity clothing on larger-size hangers. However, as long as it stays on the hanger, it is fine. Clothing that falls off the hanger onto the floor does not sell well. Use safety pins to hold items on the hangers being careful to place the pins in seams so as to not create unnecesary holes.  Old Navy and many outlet stores are great places to get free hangers (they throw away hangers daily!) and Walmart & Target also sell hangers at a great price. Sometimes your local drycleaner is a great place to get wire hangers.

Clothing Sets - Original matching sets tend to sell better (under size 6) so match things up if you can. Unmatched or mis-matched sets or groups do not sell as well in Grand Rapids as perhaps in other areas. All garments should be hung with the hanger hook pointing left (hanger should resemble a question mark when looking at the front of item). Safety pin or use a tagging gun to attach clothing sets securely with bottom garment hung on the backside of the shirt, so both pieces can be viewed without separating them.

Pants/Shorts- Pant-clip hangers are great but if you use a standard hanger, simply use safety pins or your tagging gun to attach pants to the top part of the hanger so the garment will not slide. Socks, tights, hats and infant mittens can be in a clear zip-top bag (you may group multiple items in one bag) or can be clipped to hanging rods using clips that we provide. Please be sure to label your tags well with what is inside a zip-top bag.

Price:  hanging clothes - As mentioned above, matched sets (about size 6 and down) do sell well, however unmatched or mis-matched clothing does not sell as well at the Grand Rapids sale; there is no minimum price required, price generic brands cheaper than high end items. Non-hanging Clothing - Put sets together (i.e., 6 pair of socks for $1.50) and use a clear zip-top bag to keep items together. Tape the tag to the bag.

Tag:  Clothing on Hangers - Attach cardstock tag with a tagging gun or safety pin to the label of shirt or upper right front of pants in the waistband seam. Insert the gun in a label or inside seam NOT through part of the clothing (to avoid making a hole or tear in the clothing). Also, pull on the tag to make sure it is properly secured and will not come off easily nor create a hole. Please make sure consignor tags are pulled out of the clothing so they are easily visible to the customers. 

Non-Hanging Clothing - Please use tagging gun or safety pins to attach cardstock tags to socks, tights, infant mittens, and  accessories. Be sure to also attach multiple pieces together. Then put these items into clear zip-top bags. Please do tape bags closed - shoppers are free to inspect at the Hold Desk, see video for hanging details.

Furniture & Equipment

Exersaucers, swings, high chairs, changing tables, cribs (Manufactured AFTER June 28, 2011; please bring Crib Checklist for all cribs), strollers, bath seats, baby walkers, car seats & car seat accessories must be checked for safety recalls, must have all parts, and be in good condition. Children's furniture - beds (toddler, twin), desks, side tables, dressers, etc intended for a childs room.  Please do not bring furniture that would not be used in a child's room.

Package:  If item has multiple pieces use packaging tape, zip-ties, or string to keep items attached together. If wooden furniture has loose parts, use clear plastic wrap to secure item. All furniture and equipment must be assembled during the sale. Batteries must be included, if applicable. It is required that you kindly bring a Car Seat Checklist for all car seats, booster seats, and car seat base or infant carrier.

Price:  Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag:  Attach JBF tag (on cardstock) directly to item with clear packaging tape or hole-punch JBF tag and tie it to item, see tagging video for assistance.

Infant Items

Nursing covers & pillows, feeding items, monitors, safety items, diapering & toileting items, rattles, and more.

Please check for safety recalls on all items that you consign.

Package:  If item has multiple pieces use packaging tape, tagging gun, safety pins or clear self-seal bags to keep items attached together and clearly visible to shoppers. Batteries must be included, if applicable.

Price:  Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag:  Attach JBF tag (on cardstock) to item or clear self-seal bag with clear packaging tape or hole-punch JBF tag and tie it to item, see video for assistance.

Mommy Mart

Household items that other families will use (no knick knacks or partially used items please).  You may consign storage solutions (baskets, bin, shelving), decor (like new lamps and wall hangings, no antiques), and kitchen items (small appliances, utensils, etc.).  Please Note: Bring your best items and new, unopened items are preferred.

Package:  If selling multiple pieces together, be sure that all pieces are secured together.

Price:  Price to sell!  These items are not the primary reason shoppers come to JBF, so keep the price low!

Tag:  Secure the tag (on cardstock) to the item to ensure that the tag does not fall off during the sale and so that item is not damaged when the tag is removed after purchase. See video for assistance.


Make sure that shoes are clean, clean, clean! We will be selective with shoes during Consignor Drop Off & Inspection. Season specific shoes are accepted depending on the season. (Fall = September thru February; Spring = March thru August).

Package: Fasten shoes together with zip ties, ribbon or rubber bands. For infant shoes or small shoes without laces, you may put the shoes in a clear zip-top bag. We prefer no shoe boxes. However, if shoes are in the box, please remove the lid, secure it to the bottom of the box, and secure the shoes to the box.

Price: Shoes must be in great condition. Larger size, name brand, or heavy/winter are priced more. See pricing guideline.

Tag: Punch a hole in the top of your cardstock tag and attach the tag to the shoes with the ribbon, string, or zip tie. For infant shoes in a clear zip-top bag, put the tag inside the bag and tape the bag shut with clear packing tape. Here is a helpful shoe tagging video.


Ride-on toys, block sets, dolls, remote control cars, outdoor toys, learning toys, and more. All toys must be checked for safety recalls before consigning.  Clean all toys and baby equipment thoroughly.  Please test to make sure that toys and equipment are working properly. Battery operated toys must include working batteries (these can be purchased inexpensively at local discount stores). Items missing batteries will be charged $1.50 per battery.

Package:  Keeping tags and multiple items attached is essential for your items to sell. Bag all small parts belonging to toys/equipment in self-seal bags and tape the bag shut with clear packing tape. Fasten the bag securely to the item with ribbon, tape, or zip ties. Items must include ALL working parts.

Price:  Price 50% - 90% off retail.

Valet tagging is available to a limited number of consignors each sale – sign up early to guarantee a spot.

Consignors who choose to use a Valet Tagger earn 45% of their items sold less a $20 consignor fee (50% if you help at the sale at least 4 hours). Items need to be dropped off to the Valet tagger at a minimum 2 weeks before the sale.

  • Click here to check the Consumer Product Safety Commission website  for any recalls.
  • Clean all items thoroughly. (Stained items will be removed from the sales floor - stained items that are pulled: 5 can be pulled without penalty - we are all human! (After 5, you will be charged $0.50 per item that is pulled)
  • Test to make certain that items are working properly.
  • Battery operated items must include working batteries (these can be purchased inexpensively at dollar stores).  You will be charged for non-working batteries.
  • Games and puzzles must include ALL pieces and be in box/plastic bag. Tape shut with clear packing tape.
  • Place small parts and accessories belonging to items in Ziploc/plastic bag. Tape bag shut. Fasten bag securely to the item with clear packing tape or small zip ties. Items must include ALL parts.
  • You may group several items together (toys, rattles, puzzles, books, etc.) in a zip-top bag. Secure bag shut with clear tape.
  • Use ONLY easily removable tape (painters tape works best to ensure no damage) to attach tags to books. Do not use scotch or masking tape, it can rip the cover.
  • Items may be placed into multiple bags and secured together with clear packing tape.
  • Multi piece items that will not fit into a bag may be attached together with zip ties.
  • NO stuffed animals. (ONLY battery operated toy animals) You are welcome to donate stuffed animals at Drop Off - these are sent to our local animal shelter.
  • Movies should remain kid-friendly. NO explicit PG-13 or rated R DVD's, NO explicit or M rated video games.
  • NO VHS tapes.

Note: Attach cardstock tag to item with clear packing tape, safety pin, or by punching a hole in the top of the tag and securing with ribbon.

Note: Place a piece of tape on cardstock tag before punching a hole. This will reinforce the tag so that it is not easily torn off your item.

Note: If selling multiple items together, include how many items on tag. (i.e. toys, rattles, puzzles, books, etc.)
